The 15-day itinerary covers some of the most exciting and important destinations in Sri Lanka. Starting with your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, you will be taken to Colombo city, followed by a visit to Kandy, where you will visit the popular destinations like the Temple of Tooth and witness a traditional Sri Lankan cultural show. Then the tour heads to Dambulla, where you can experience the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, followed by the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Polonnaruwa, which comprises ancient ruins of palaces and temples. The tour then moves to Anuradhapura, where you can explore the city's prominent Buddhist temples and historical sites like Jetavanaramaya and Thuparamaya. The next destination, Habarana, offers an exceptional experience of climbing the
Ritigala Forest Monastery while enjoying wildlife. Finally, the tour concludes with a visit to Colombo city for shopping and exploring religiuos places. Your flight lands and you'll clear immigration and customs before meeting your Apple Vacations representative in the arrivals area. From there, your English-speaking chauffeur guide takes you to Colombo, giving you a chance to settle in during the drive. You'll check into your hotel and have dinner that evening.

After breakfast, you'll drive through the lush green hills toward Kandy. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is your first stop, a major religious site where Buddha's sacred relic is housed. From there, you'll walk around Kandy Lake and see the Royal Palace of Kandy, then head out to the lesser-known temples of Rawana Purana Rajamaha Viharaya and Galmaduwa. Back at your hotel in Kandy, you can relax for the rest of the evening.

After breakfast, you'll continue in Kandy with a visit to Embekka Devalaya, which is known for its intricate wood carvings on display. Next, check out Gadaladenia temple, a 14th-century stupa that shows off ancient Sinhalese architecture. In the evening, there's a traditional cultural dance exhibition with Sri Lankan music, dance, and costumes performed by experienced dancers.

You'll drive from Kandy to Dambulla and spend time at the Golden Temple of Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage site. There, you can see five cave temples with over 150 Buddha statues, artwork, and murals that go back to the 1st century BC. The 50-foot-long reclining Buddha covered in gold decorations is particularly striking. You'll stay overnight in Dambulla.

This is a relaxation day at your hotel in Dambulla. You'll have breakfast and dinner included, giving you time to rest and take it easy after your recent travels and temple visits.

After breakfast, head to Polannaruwa with a scenic stop at Sigiriya rock fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll climb to the summit for views and explore the ancient palace ruins, frescoes, and architecture. In Polannaruwa, visit Gal Vihara temple with four Buddha statues, Vatadage temple, ancient palace and temple ruins, Lankathilaka Image House, and Medirigiriya Vatadage on a hilltop.

After breakfast, you'll explore more archaeological sites in Polannaruwa. Visit Sandakada Pahana at a temple entrance with intricate Buddhist carvings, Weijantha Prasada from King Parakramabahu I's era, the King's Council Chamber with ancient architectural details, and Nissanka Latha Mandapaya built in the 12th century with carvings of elephants, dragons, and warriors.

After breakfast, you'll head to Anuradhapura to see some of Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist sites. The Jethawanaramaya Stupa stands 122 meters tall and is one of the world's largest, built in the 3rd century. You'll also visit Ruwanwelisaya, a 2,000-year-old sacred stupa built by King Dutugamunu, Abhayagiri Dagaba, Sri Maha Boodhi Temple, Ran masu Uyana, and Thuparama Dagoba.

You'll start with breakfast before heading to Mihintale, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site where Indian monk Mahinda introduced Buddhism to Sri Lanka around 250 BC. After exploring its ancient ruins and religious structures, you'll return to Anuradhapura to visit Isurumuniya Temple with its rock-cut sculptures and the famous lovers carving. Later, spend time at Jetavanaramaya and Thuparamaya temples.

After breakfast, you'll drive about 2 hours to Habarana, a small village in Sri Lanka's cultural triangle. There's Ritigala Forest Monastery, an ancient Buddhist monastery on a remote mountain. Keep in mind the full mountain hike is about 3.5 km through dense forest with steep sections, so you'll only visit if it doesn't require a long climb. Back at your hotel in Habarana, you can unwind.

You'll travel from Habarana to Colombo, making several stops along the way. Visit St. Thomas Chapel in Kotte from the 16th century, Isipathanaramaya Buddhist Temple, Sambodhi Chaithya, All-Saints Church with stained-glass windows, Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Borella All Saints Church, and St. Peter's Church. You'll also drive past Colombo Grand Mosque before checking into your hotel in Colombo.

After breakfast, you'll explore Colombo's historical and religious sites. In the Colombo Fort area, see colonial buildings like the Dutch Hospital and Old Parliament Building. Then visit Wolvendaal Church from the 18th century, St Lucia's Cathedral with stained-glass windows, Sri Ponnambalam Vanesar Kovil, St Anthony's Shrine, Asokaramaya Buddhist Temple, and Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple complex on Beira Lake.

You'll continue exploring Colombo's cultural heritage. Check out Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque with its distinctive red and white striped minarets, Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil, Independence Square and Independence Memorial Hall, the Old Parliament Building, and Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, an ancient Buddhist temple from the 3rd century BC with beautiful wall paintings.
