You'll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where an Apple Vacations representative meets you. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide will travel with you for the entire trip. On the way to Dambulla or Habarana, you stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to see the elephants there. Next you'll head to the Dambulla Cave Temple, which has well-preserved Buddhist murals and statues inside. After checking into your hotel, you have dinner and settle in for the night.

This morning starts early with a sunrise climb up Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with panoramic views across the area. You return to your hotel afterward for breakfast and some downtime. Around midday, you take a bullock cart ride through a village and go out on a traditional canoe, then have an authentic lunch made by local villagers. In the evening, you can relax at the hotel, hike Pidurangala Rock to catch the sunset, or take an optional jeep safari to Minneriya or Hurulu Eco National Park to look for wild elephants.

After breakfast, you head to Kandy with several stops along the way. First comes Nalanda Gedige, an ancient stone temple from the 8th-10th centuries with both Hindu and Buddhist architectural elements. Then you visit a Spice Garden in Matale to learn about Sri Lankan spices and get a complimentary 5-minute herbal massage. Next is Aluviharaya Rock Cave Temple, significant because Buddhist teachings were written down there in the 1st century BC. You also stop at the colorful Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Temple. Later you check into your Kandy hotel, have dinner, and stay overnight.

After breakfast, you visit the Gem Museum and Wood Carving Centre to see Sri Lankan gem heritage and watch artisans work on wooden sculptures. There's time for shopping too. Then you go to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which holds Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist relic. You walk around nearby Kandy Lake and afterward head to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, where you can see the orchid house, Royal Palm Avenue, a suspension bridge, and various wildlife. Around lunch, you have authentic Sri Lankan food at a local restaurant. In the evening, you watch a Kandyan cultural dance show with traditional dancing, drumming, and colorful costumes. Finally you return to your hotel for dinner and the night.

After breakfast, you travel toward Kitulgala, known as Sri Lanka's adventure capital and located on the Kelani River. The area has rainforest surrounding it and offers white-water rafting and bird watching opportunities. You have a traditional rice and curry lunch in a rustic riverside setting. After your activities and some relaxation, you continue heading uphill to Nuwara Eliya, called 'Little England' because of its colonial buildings, cooler weather, and tea plantations with mountains all around. You check into your hotel there and have dinner before an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you visit the sacred Seetha Amman Temple, a Hindu temple surrounded by forest and connected to the Ramayana story. Then you have two options: take one of the world's most scenic train rides from Nanu Oya to Ella, which winds through tea plantations and villages, or drive by road with your chauffeur guide, stopping at beautiful viewpoints. Either way you arrive in Ella, check in, and spend the evening exploring this laid-back hill village with its cafes, shops, and relaxed vibe. Dinner and overnight stay follow.

Early morning brings a sunrise hike to Little Adam's Peak for views of the misty Ella Valley in golden light. Back at your hotel you have a hearty breakfast, then you head to the Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial-era engineering feat. You can walk through forest paths or take a tuk-tuk and possibly see a train cross the bridge. After checkout, you begin traveling south through beautiful hill country and rural areas. Along the way, you stop at the famous Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka's most photographed waterfalls, for photos and to feel the spray. By evening you reach Yala or Tissamaharama for dinner and your overnight stay.

Very early this morning you head out on a jeep safari through Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's most well-known wildlife reserve where leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and many birds live. You experience an exciting game drive through forest, lagoons, and grasslands. Back at the hotel you have breakfast and freshen up, or take a packed breakfast depending on when the safari ends. After checking out, you travel along the southern coast toward Galle or Hikkaduwa. You might stop to see stilt fishermen, a traditional fishing method found only on Sri Lanka's southern coast and great for photos. In the afternoon you arrive in Galle to explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built originally by Portuguese and later by the Dutch. You walk cobbled streets, visit the Galle Lighthouse on the ramparts with Indian Ocean views, and check out colonial buildings, boutique shops, and cafes. You check in at your hotel in Hikkaduwa or Galle and relax before dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you check out and travel along the coast toward Colombo, making scenic stops along the way. You take a peaceful boat safari on Madu River through mangrove forests, gliding past small islands and spotting wildlife and fishing communities. Next you visit a turtle hatchery to see baby turtles and learn about sea turtle conservation. If you want adventure, there's an optional stop in Bentota for water sports like banana boat rides, jet skiing, and tube rides. Later you arrive in Colombo, check in, and freshen up. Then you do a quick city tour covering the colonial Old Parliament Building, the red-and-white-striped Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque, Independence Square, and Galle Face Green seaside promenade. You also pass the Colombo Lotus Tower and might explore shopping arcades and handicraft stores for souvenirs. After all that, you return to your hotel for the night.
