Colombo to Dambulla
Your driver picks you up from the airport or your Colombo hotel and heads toward Dambulla with a few stops along the way. First, you'll check out Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where roughly 80 elephants live, and you can learn about what they're doing for conservation. After that, it's on to Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO site with five caves holding over 150 Buddha sculptures carved right into the rock. You'll climb up Sigiriya Lion Rock fortress next for those high views across the landscape. To wrap up, there's a local experience that includes bullock cart rides, tuk-tuk trips, canoe rides, and a cooking demonstration where you can see how local food gets made.

Dambulla to Kandy

Dambulla to Kandy
After breakfast, you'll travel to Kandy to see its historical and cultural sites. The Temple of the Tooth Relic comes first, one of the world's oldest Buddhist temples that holds a sacred Buddha tooth relic inside. From there, you can walk around Kandy Lake, which sits peacefully surrounded by trees and plants. You'll spend time at the Gem Museum looking at precious stones and learning about Sri Lanka's gemstone trade. Head up to Kandy View Point for views across the city, then settle in for an evening of traditional Kandyan dance performances that show off the region's cultural heritage.

Kandy to Ella
After breakfast, you travel to Ella by passing through tea plantations along the way. You'll stop at a working tea plantation and factory to see how tea gets produced and sample a few different varieties. Ramboda Waterfalls is next, where you can take in the water and surrounding nature. Gregory Lake offers a chance to relax by the water with vegetation all around. You visit Sita Temple, a Hindu site connected to local mythology stories. The main event is a scenic train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella where you'll see tea plantations, hills, and valleys from your seat (75°F/24°C typical temps).

Ella to Negombo
After breakfast, you head to Ravana Falls, a waterfall with ties to Hindu mythology. Next comes a hike up Ella's Little Adam's Peak for views across the surrounding hills and valleys. You'll walk to the Nine Arch Bridge in a forested area near the railway tracks, getting a sense of how the landscape looks from ground level. Later, there's a safari at Udawalawe National Park where you might see over 400 elephants, leopards, deer, and various bird species in their natural setting. After the safari, you transfer to Negombo where your tour ends.
